I loved the period quiz to start! I’ve tried the diva cup in both sizes and didn’t love my experiences. I couldn’t grasp the cup to pull it out easily, I never felt very comfortable with it in, and during bowel movements I’d always feel it shift. I was pretty unhappy with these cup experiences and went back to disposable tampons and pads, but after multiple BV infections I was determined to find another method! The period quiz was nice and thorough and suggested the flex cup. I loved the idea of the pull tab and the smaller size of the whole cup. I was concerned if the tab would be too long and make the cup uncomfortable to wear. I’ve only been through one cycle with the cup now, but I loved it so far! The softer rubber does pick up lint easily so I think I’ll have to deep clean it every time. Still though, this cup was a great size and the pull tab is such a game changer for removed. As a late twenties female with no prior pregnancies and a very bowel heavy period, I enjoyed this cup and would recommend to anyone similar to my situation!
It’s terrible. The seal breaker thing is so freaking long and it curves on top that hurts the living crap of the top of my cervix. It’s also so annoying to insert in my vagina. I completely feel it when it’s in my vagina. I stand up and I literally feel it inside me. I really hate it.
Flex was my first ever menstral cup. I chose it because of its section-breaking pull tab feature. In general, it was a good introduction to reusable products, but it wasn’t right for me. I found that I had a hard time getting it to open up completely inside me. I’m not sure if this was due to size or firmness. I encountered leaks most times I used it — I’m honestly not sure why in the instances were I knew it was completely open inside me. The pull tab did make removal a little easier than with other cups I’ve tried since, though still not a breeze. On my lighter flow days, it was a little tough to get in and out (even with the seal break and pull tab). Because of the pull tab design, it would often leak out of the hole in the bottom when removing. Perhaps the issues I had with this cup were due to poor fit. I’m sure it works well for some. I recommend if your a first time cup user and a little intimidated by the removal process. I have since tried the small and medium soft Saalt cups. My overall experience with these has been a little better, but I still encounter leaks. I might try a disc next.
I have a super high cervix (4"+) and I have needed help with cup/disc removal before, but not this time!! The flex cup is perfect for me. I can reach it easily and pull on the tab to release the suction. Phenomenal design. I hope more companies can learn from their product design
This is favorite cup I've tryed by quite a bit. Other cups it would take me half an hour or longer to remove. this one takes about 5 seconds. just find the loop, hook your finger through it and pull. it hurts a tiny bit, like ripping off a baidaid, but that's nothing against it.
and it's not that difficult to clean either. only slightly more so than other cups.
there are some minor cons.
1. it seems a bit more prone to static cling than other cups. When I 1st took it out of the package there was fuzz stuck to it and the thicker parts of my period blood seems to want to stay in the cup when I try to dump it into the tolit.
2.its slightly harder to make certain folds due to the stem going up through and inside of the cup.
3. Ive found evidence of micro leakage, but that may be user error.
tip: apparently it can splash some when removing, so be careful of that and remember to wipe yourself up down there before re-inserting
Conclution: I was almost ready to give up on cups because how difficult they were to remove, which was both time consuming and scary, but the flex cup has completely eliminated that problem and I plan to be using this as my go to period product from now on.
I was excited to get my period for the first time ever but I don't think this is the cup for me. The material is very firm and hard to keep folded while inserting. I go from getting a sharp cramp right after inserting, to mild cramps and none, then back to hurting. I'm gave it a good 8 hours and it only leaked an itty bitty amount. The pull tab is great! I have arthritis and small hands and a high cervix so I was concerned about my ability to remove a basic cup. I think my body needs something a little smaller though. The pull tab sticks out of me.
Website was good. Videos were incredibly helpful. Annoying that the disc quiz wasn’t helpful at all - no matter what responses you add, it always points to the Hello disc.
I absolutely adore the flex cup! It was actually the second brand I tried after using a diva cup for years, but after moving to flex I won’t be going back. I love the pull tab and think it could be great for newbies to the reusable product game, and the cup itself is easy to maneuver when inserting and removing. I’m a plus size person so I was nervous when I started using cups since I’m not the most flexible, but the flex cup in particular is big person friendly. Big recommend to all folks, but especially beginners!
I’ve been using menstrual cups for years and have tried the Diva Cup size 1, the OrganiCup (now AllMatters) Mini, the Intimina Lily Cup Compact size A, and now the Flex Cup size 1. Here’s my honest opinion.
The Diva Cup was my very first cup, and honestly, I hated it. I used it for as long as I could, but I eventually gave up on it because it was way too firm for me. Folding it to insert was such a hassle — the silicone was just too stiff. Over time, I learned that I much prefer cups made from softer, more flexible silicone.
After that, I switched to the AllMatters Mini. This cup fit me much better in terms of size — it’s really small and super comfortable, especially with my low, slightly tilted cervix and short vaginal canal. But there’s one thing that really bothered me. Even though I was extremely meticulous with cleaning, the clear silicone got heavily pigmented after just a few cycles. It’s probably just how my blood interacts with the material, but psychologically it really threw me off. I knew the cup was perfectly safe to use, but the intense pigmentation made me uncomfortable over time. I went through two AllMatters cups, each lasting me about two years, before deciding to try something different.
Then I decided to try the Intimina Lily Cup Compact size A, not only because I’d heard the silicone was incredibly soft but also because it wasn’t a translucent material — it’s a solid, opaque color, which I loved. Those two points together won me over, and honestly, the experience with this cup was great. I even considered buying the same one again when it was time to replace it.
But that’s when I discovered the Flex Cup size 1. Super soft silicone. The black color immediately caught my attention — black cups are so rare — and the removal mechanism intrigued me. I didn’t expect it to be as big as it is, but with the right fold and a bit of lubrication, it works really well for me. What I love the most is how easy it is to break the suction and remove it. I’ve always found it uncomfortable to insert my fingers to release the seal, especially because my vaginal canal isn’t very spacious and that area feels more sensitive during my period. With this cup, I can remove it without that discomfort, and the black color just makes me feel more at ease when using it.
Right now, my two favorites are the Intimina Lily Cup Compact and the Flex Cup. At the moment, I use the Flex, but I’m moving to Madrid soon, and since it’s not available there, I might have to switch back to the Intimina when the moment comes. Still, I really hope Flex becomes available in Spain or that more brands start offering black cups — I think they’re excellent.
This was the cup that got me successfully using reusable products! I had a pretty treacherous experience both inserting and removing cups before, to the point where I just continued on with disposables for ten years. Not having to get my fingers up higher to break the suction was key for me, it turns out.
I’ve moved on to a Hello disc as my primary item for more capacity (I assume it has more capacity?), but I so appreciate the Flex cup for getting me there.
Love love this cup but I’ve been through two! This purchase will be my third, everything works well but the loop to pull the stem keeps snapping thus making it hard to pull just the stem, if you loose the loop it doesn’t break the suction so disappointed with that part
This has been my faithful cup for about 3 years now and I didn't realize that the cup could be the problem. I thought it was me. I experience excruciating pain when I have this cup in sometimes that I literally cannot walk. After reading the reviews I am glad to see I am not the only one. It just doesn't work for me anymore. :(
Finally reached period nirvana!! I've tried a lot of cups over the years, maybe 6-8 discs and cups in about 10 years. I have an average to high cervix (it gets higher later in my period) and very short fingers. This makes grasping a cup difficult for me, especially if it migrates upwards. For whatever reason, discs haven't been very comfortable for me and I've always been able to feel them. The flex cup completely changed this barrier for me, because I can hook my finger through the loop and gently pull it out, no pinching required. And I don't feel it ever!
I do think the stem being attached to the rim makes it slightly harder to fold and insert this cup. I was having issues getting it into the right position and I find that I get the best results from opening it lower in my vagina and pushing it into position with my fingers. I haven't had any problems with the stem leaking, although I do have a lighter flow in general.
Overall, I'm really happy with this cup! This is easily my new go-to menstrual product and my favorite cup I've ever tried.
I really wanted to love this cup. It just doesn't live up to what I had hoped for.
Ive used it for about 4-5 periods. One month, the stopper on the little pull tab came through the hole at the bottom of the cup. So the stopper does not actually stop the whole stem from coming through the hole at the bottom.
Ive also had issues with it not opening properly and causing leaking or having to reinsert hours after my first insertion because it never properly opened.
This cup is honestly difficult to get out and the pull tab does not make it easier honestly. I mostly use it to break the seal then have to go fishing anyways. Also when you pull the pull tab, blood pours out of the bottom of the cup from the hole, so it's really not mess free, its quite messy to remove.
This cup was good to get me more comfortable with "fishing" and learning my anatomy. It's a good place to start if you've never used reusables. I just purchased a hello disc because of all the issues Ive had with this cup, so hopefully I have better luck with a disc.
I thought that the pull tab design was great because even though im proficcient at removing cups, the thought of my iud slipping out prevails. This cup constantly leaked and i came to the conclusion that it is too soft. So far, i have only gotten extremely firm cups to open and seal. At least I know that now! i prefer discs anyway.
I’ve been using this cup for about 2 years I think. I tried a diva cup briefly before I knew I had a high cervix. I found it hard to retrieve because it would go up so far and my short fingers struggled to reach it. The loop on the flex cup has made it much easier to retrieve and hold onto while trying to remove it. I liked that the loop comes out and you can wash it thoroughly. My cup after these about 2 years has a little tear in the bottom of the loop, it doesn’t affect wear but makes me a little anxious about removal. Regardless, I’ll be looking into buying another! $34 for 2 years of consistent use is pretty good to me.
Looking at some of the other reviews, personally I’ve had no issues with discomfort unless the cup was not fully open or not pushed in enough.
As someone with a high cervix (which is easy to determine with your fingers folks) this fit me well. I have super heavy periods and have to dump my cup a lot, but also have a flipped uterus so I can use discs and need a flexible cup.
What I enjoy about Flex is that the pull tab helps break the suction seal (it pulls one of the corners down), which personally helps me to dump and remove my cup a lot more easily than other brands I’ve tried.
Man. It really goes to show that there isn't a one product that suits everyone. This was my game changer and rid my life of tampons. Seriously this was life changing. I am at about 6 cycles in and can confidently not even pack other peroid supplies when I travel. I am that confident with it.
The star rating doesnt make any sense given the uniqueness of users. Give it a try if you like the cup concept and want the suction release that the pull through stem provides.

Horrible cup for me. I've had the Diva, the Moon, the Lily and the Dot. Overall, the Dot is my favorite. I wanted to like the Flex. So much! My cervix is super high and many times my cup will travel up so far that I can't reach it without some downward thrusting. And then, the seal is so strong I'm sure I'm getting an internal hickey. I thought the whole seal-breaking feature of Flex would help me when I'm wrestling with my super seal, but instead, my heavy periods just oozed out of the bottom, and sometimes pulling the seal breaker just resulted in the whole cup spilling into my hands. The cup seriously turned me into Carrie.
It didn't work for me. For some reason my vagina would spit this cup out. 5min after putting it in, I would feel it getting pushed out. Idk why it happened. But i could get it to open
The flex cup is soooo wonderful for removal .With a chopped stem lily cup (that stem is pokey), I had a spelunking nightmare where a second pair of hands was needed because I couldn’t reach it, and I decided I needed an “easy-mode” removal cup.
This cup is Great for removal. It just didn’t work for me for other reasons. I think it might be the angle of my cervix or something, but it just would not open up correctly even if it felt like there were no folds (I tried the different strategies)- It always leaked. I think this might be really nice for you if you also have trouble with suction or removal. I just found the hello disc to work better for insertion and removal for my body.
I have a high cervix, a tilted uterus, and an IUD that made me a little nervous about menstrual cups, so finding the right cup / disc was a bit of a nightmare and I referred to your YouTube channel regularly, and learned so much from your detailed advice. I first tried Saalt cups (both sizes) that were virtually impossible for me to remove without bearing down- sometimes for almost half an hour(!), I then was excited to try Lumma discs and thought they might be perfect in terms of removal and the ‘no suction’ appealed because of my IUD, but because of my tilted uterus, I learned discs in general don’t work for me and just leak as the menstrual blood collects on the wrong side. Finally, I discovered your Period Nirvana quiz and was directed towards the Flex cup- size 2 (as I have a heavy period) and am so happy to say I now have the easiest, stress free period!! Reviews are mixed for this product but personally, insertion and removal has been so easy, I can’t feel it at all once it’s in, and I’ve experienced zero leaks. In terms of my concerns about my IUD, I’m less nervous now as I just remove it gently and break the suction myself once it’s within reach. I work long days on set so not having to worry about changing a tampon or leaks even on my heaviest flow day is a dream. Would recommend for anyone with a high cervix & tilted uterus to try it! I did have to work at getting the punch down fold to work well around the pull cord but once I figured it out this cup was period bliss! I have a frozen shoulder so reaching around is hard. This cup breaks the seal for me allowing me to easily and lightly bear down until the cup gently slides into my hand and then I can just dump it out, clean and reinsert. I have struggled with other cups due to a high cervix, long vaginal canal and my shoulder but this cup has never disappointed or gotten stuck. I spent four HOURS trying to fish out another brand! Traumatizing! This cup saved the cup using process for me. I couldn’t be more thankful!
